Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
